All you have to do is tell us what document you would like to legalise and send us the document. We will take all necessary steps and send you back your legalised document. The embassy of China has established a consular legalisation office. The purpose of consular legalisation is to ensure that a document issued in one country can be acknowledged for use in China, and its legal effect outside the issuing country will not be affected due to doubts about authenticity of the seal or signature thereon.
The embassy of China in London legalises documents issued in the UK to be used in China with certification by local Notaries Public/Solicitors and legalization by Legalization Office of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) or its authorized institutions.
Documents issued by the UK Government, such as original marriage certificate, birth certificate etc. can be directly legalized by the Legalization Office of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) or its authorized institutions before they can be legalised by the Chinese embassy. However, documents not issued by government institutions shall be certified by local Notaries Public/Solicitors in advance before applying for legalization by the FCDO or its authorized institutions.
Our prices depends on the type of document you need to be legalised. All of our prices are inclusive of the embassy attestation service we offer. We are transparent with our prices and will confirm the charges when you order.
China has not joined the “Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents”. At present, the “Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents” only applies to Hong Kong Special Administration Region and Macao Special Administration Region. Any documents issued in the UK with an Apostille can be used in Hong Kong Special Administration Region and Macao Special Administration Region directly.
Documents produced on “Isle of Man”, “Bailiwick of Jersey” and “Bailiwick of Guernsey” can be legalised by their local institutions authorized by the FCDO, while those produced on other British Overseas Territories such as “British Virgin Islands”, need to be legalised by Legalisation Office of the FCDO before they are legalised by the Chinese Embassy or Consulates in the UK.
Documents produced outside the UK to be used in China should be legalised in the country where they are produced.
Please note, for us to legalise your documents we will need a photocopy of your valid passport.
Marriage Certificate
If you are applying to legalise a Marriage Certificate, you must be one party of the marriage. We will also need a photocopy of your spouse’s valid passport.
Single affidavits/certificates intended to be used for marriage registration in China are only valid for six months from the date of issue.
Birth Certificate
To have the Birth Certificate of your child legalised, we may ask you to complete an application form, which will require your signature. We will send this to you as part of our early communications with you once you have placed an order with us.
Death Certificate
A Death Certificate can be legalised by a close relative or by an authorised individual as appointed by the close relative. To legalise a Death Certificate at the Chinese embassy, along with the Death Certificate we will need the certificate of kinship, valid identity document for both the decedent and the close relative, and an authorisation letter from the close relative if the application is submitted by an authorised individual.
Adoption Certificate
Unfortunately we are unable to legalise Adoption Certificates at the Chinese embassy. Applications of legalization for any document to be used for adoption in China can only be submitted through Department of Education (DfE) of UK, which is designated for inter-country adoptions by UK government. Applications through solicitors or individuals will not be accepted.
Accompanying the Adoption Certificate you must also submit the official letter issued by DfE, and the notarised adoption documents, which include marital status, health, asset, income, and certificate of no-criminal record. These would only be valid for six months from the date of their issue.
Certificate of Incorporation
For legalizing the “certificate of Incorporation” of a company, proof of identity of the legal representative of the company is required, such as passport and documents that can prove the legal representative’s position in the company.
Prime Apostille is still open for business. The Qualifications Office of the Consulate General of Italy in London only issues "Dichiarazioni di Valore" (Declarations of Value, DV) of British qualifications - issued by recognised educational institutions (schools, colleges and universities) or professional bodies - that fall under the British education/university system.
Scotland and Northern Ireland fall within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General in Edinburgh.
The "DV" is neither an equivalent of an Italian qualification nor a comparability certificate. It will be up to the relevant Italian institutions (Ministry of Education, Uffici Scolastici Provinciali, Universities, etc.) to subsequently declare if a foreign qualification has a similar Italian equivalent: this is called "equipollenza" (equivalence/certificate of comparability). Please note that the "Declaration of Value" can only be requested for already-completed study cycles (e.g., A-level, Bachelor, Master, etc.).
If you wish for Prime Apostille to obtain a Declaration of Value on your behalf, please CLICK HERE.
